Charlie is the daughter of a billionaire, with every intention to help anyone she meets. Vaggie is the daughter of a soldier, raised to be a fearless warrior, too. Amity is a straight-A's student, with overbearing, controlling parents. Luz is the daughter of a nurse, and the biggest dreamer you'll ever meet. Catra is a bully with a scarred past. Adora is the kind of person who fixes everybody else's problems, except her own. Lapis is kind but prefers the company of sea-life to that of humans. Peridot is an introvert with a knack for hacking and talking too fast. Stolas is the son of the Headmaster, who doesn't want to follow in his Father's footsteps, instead preferring to find out who he wants to be on his own terms. Blitz is a perverted control freak, with an insane obsession with blood and gore.

When these unruly few are chosen as the next students of the prestigious and elusive university, amply named "The Fanfare Academy," they'll have to keep their wits about them. None are thrilled to be in a dorm building together, let alone have one roommate each. But not everything is as it seems. There are secrets around every corner, secrets the faculty would rather leave alone. And, when students start going missing, these lively kids will have to put aside their differences, and learn to work together, before the only world they've ever known comes crashing down around them.
