My entire life had always been, get good grades, study history, science, math, and become a rider. Never once did I ever think that last part would come true, and once it did I never looked back. The kingdoms though became threatened and I felt it was my job as a rider (even if I was a cadet) to save them. No matter what happened to me. I was going to protect the civilians, even if the truth about the amount of threat was hidden by their leaders.

Siderion is mere minutes away from becoming a member of the Order and earning his first rank stripe when Serkha City is attacked and his life is changed forever. Thrown away from everything he holds dear, he must scramble for answers as his moral ground shifts under his feet. In a world full of mages and monsters, nothing is safe. - - - - - - - - There were lots of other mages gathered in the plaza, addressing the arkaetres they had ridden with curt nods or short dialogue. The doors to the building were big enough for even the largest dragon to enter, but still only a small imperfection in the huge structure. I knew the door was the size of a dragon because I could see one to compare it to, flying above the dome. Then I realized that the dragon was black. "Dad? Look up there." He looked up and cocked his head in confusion. "I've never seen anything like that before." The beast was quite high in the sky and didn't look particularly threatening, but it still spooked me to see an arkaetre that wasn't white. After watching the shadowy dragon for a few more moments, my dad said slowly, "It seems like they have no rider. We should probably tell the Council about this." I nodded and followed him inside the dome. "But what about the opening ceremony?" I asked nervously, looking down at my watch. "We've got some time." - - - - - - - - Remember to comment and vote for the chapters you enjoy! Any and all feedback is appreciated. My golden dragon was ready to fly me. You cannot imagine my excitement for the opportunity. Ailleacht (my dragon) has devised a cunning harness for me to buckle onto as she plans to push the limits of maned or should I say womaned flight. I climbed onto my dragon's back and buckled my ankles and knees down and adjusted the flight straps then immediately after signaling my dragon we were airborne. Our little island home appeared to fall way from me as we soared higher. It became a landscape in miniature. A mixed flock of puffins, guillemots and gulls joined us but were soon left in our wake as we soared higher and higher. The sea from this height appears calm and the sky clear and sun bright in a cloudless sky. Ailleacht then rolled and I was upside down as we fell like a cannon ball from the sky. I held up my hands and screamed for the joy of it and I admit to the terror. I screamed and screamed until I lost my voice and I gasped for breath. Then mere inches above the calm waters of the loch my dragon rolled me upright as we skimmed the surface. My belly felt like I was floating and weightless and I felt the spray on my face from the disrupted water surface as the powerful wings of my golden companion drove us along. We climbed again and I could see spread out before me my home and all of the Hebrides. In the distance out to sea we rapidly approached a thick band of snow white clouds and drove through them again and again rising higher. Then once again we climbed to enormous height and could find no air to breathe. We stalled in the silence of dead air and fell back to earth in a flat spin. I must fly again Aurelija, Dragon Rider

21 parts Complete

Eighteen hundred years ago the sky was lit on fire by a large object cutting through the sky towards the very center of life as the land that was to become Erdas would know it. A fiery explosion of death and destruction erupted across the lands of Pyrrhia and Pantala upon contact with the Evertree. All life would have been destroyed if not for the Dragon Riders, an ancient order that ruled before the Greencloaks. Traveling to the distant land of Alagaesia, they struggle to fit in to their new home, especially with the fourteen Dragon Tribes they brought with them causing constant conflicts with the native Dragons and other species of Alagaesia. In this short story follow the adventures of Baobab and Marula, the discovers of the Evertree; Raegel and Oak, the explorers of the Outer Reaches, and the first recognizers of the SilkWings and HiveWings; and Viserra and Lycaena, the original enemies of the Wyrm. This story will cover the history of the Wyrm's beginnings, how Erdas was formed, and how the Great Beasts came to be.
