Everett VonDyke was only a normal eighteen year old boy, with ambitions and high hopes of making something in this world. Unfortunately, his life would soon change one sunny, summer afternoon in June of 1943. He learns that he has been drafted into the U.S Army and must go fight in Japan. During one of his missions, his entire team is killed, in result, he is the only one remaining. He is then taken prisoner of war in a cold dark cell. As he survives the first night. He suffers a severe head injury the following morning, causing him to begin to lose his grip with reality. In order to keep himself sane, he lifts a notebook off of a dead prisoner and begins to write his life story over again so he can remember the young ambitious boy he once was.
