Welcome to Hell: Plague

I look up at the rope, the one they're about to put around my throat. Gods, I wish Tokeru were here. I feel useless on my own.

"Hang the witch! A curse from the Devil himself! With her sacrifice, the plague of evil will end!"

The surrounding crowd hollers, all excited for my exile. Some look at me in horror, scared by my wings, my demon-like features. Others looking at me with lust and need. It's not like at home, sitting on the throne where I can feel their emotions. Where I can feel powerful. These people want to watch me choke on my last breath.

A rough hand takes my hair, yanking my head back making me look at the red sky. With shears my hair is cut off at jaw length, then the rope is lowered around my neck and tightened to the skin. This is it. The Goddess of Hell is going to perish in the eyes of hundreds of murderous civilians. They don't know what I am, they won't listen to me.

My eyes shut tight as the ground under me gives out.
