In the year 2614, humans have succeeded in eliminating war. Conflicts are now resolved economically. With armed forces rendered obsolete, combat forces have been reduced to a bare minimum, or even eliminated altogether in favour of the police.
But the arrival of the Chimeras, monstrous and fantastical creatures, forces humans to take up arms once again. Unprepared and poorly equipped, the human population is greatly reduced: the Chimeras take no prisoners. To cope, humans use mechanical combat armour, and a central government organises global defence. After twenty years of bloody fighting, the war becomes bogged down. Areas spared by the war begin to appear.
In the year 2631, Manuel Ferreira lives in Clermont-Ferrand. He is a young man gifted in mechanics, living in this post-apocalyptic world. He hates war, even though he knows how to fight. Like all of humanity, he hopes that peace will come. An unlikely encounter with a colourful combat unit will plunge him into a journey of discovery at the very heart of his species' future.
Are these the first steps towards peace? And for how long? How can differences and resentments be overcome? What if another, even more dangerous threat were also taking its first steps on Earth?
A budding writer with a bunch of ingenious rebels risk their lives to try and overthrow an oppressive government to earn back their liberty of expression. They need to unify and put aside their differences, interests and pasts, and race against time to snatch back their rights to express freely in the kingdom of clouds.
