***WARNING*** This story is very graphic and only for mature readers. It has a graphic sexual assault as well. You've been warned. Athena was traveling around the country seeing her family after losing her husband in a car accident a year before the fall. She thought that they were perfect for one another and losing him shook her to her core. She was in Georgia when the world started to go to hell. After traveling alone for few months into the apocalypse, she stopped to sleep in the woods when she heard two engines stop late into the night. She went closer to the camp, snapping a twig. Then small whispers. A man with a southern twang (appropriate to the area) spoke in a hushed but urgent tone. Athena just caught the end of what he had been saying: "This isn't a democracy anymore!" Shortly after making her presence known, she gets to know the members of the group she heard whispering little by little, though they are hard to let her in to the group at first. After finally being accepted, she catches the eye of Daryl Dixon, the rugged, silent protector of the group. She is extremely apprehensive to do so after losing her husband only a year ago. Story starts right after the incident at Hershel's barn but does not follow the story line of the show after that. The main character is a young woman named Nora who at first has developed feelings for Glenn after he was the one who helped get her out of the city. When she realizes she's held on to her feelings too long, she quickly starts to feel lost. Nora is somewhat of a trouble magnet but most of all she just wants to find her place in this new world. Along the way, she finds comfort in an unlikely person. (I do not own the original art for the cover) {I started this story back in December 2011 on Tumblr and although it didn't get the fan following that I had always hoped for, it did well in it's own way. It had loyal followers and I got comments on how much readers loved it. I thought I would try posting it on Wattpad to see what becomes of it. The story is completed on Tumblr and as I bring it over here, I'm also doing small rewrites to the story. There are scenes that I needed to cut out and change up just because my view of things has changed as well and I wanted this story to reflect that.
