When Ava didn't save Elena, Elena died with  vampire blood in her system. As Ava tries her best to help with Elena's transition as a vampire, she gets upset that Elena would rather go to Damon for help than her. When Ava finds out there's a cure for vampirism, Ava does everything she can do to find the cure for Elena, Ava even considers taking the cure for herself and grow old with Elena. Then in a shocking turn of events Elena is sired to Damon and when Ava finds out the reason why Elena is sired, it hurts Ava, because Elena had strong feelings for Damon when she was human and the sire bond only amplifies it. But what hurts Ava even more is Elena's betrayal.
