In a world where humans are dominant dragons are 1 of 4 things.

pets- usually Dragnet or smaller dragons; typically discarded (killed or left for dead) when they reach maturity or get bigger than they want.
weapons- used in wars; often killed if injured or disabled.
fighters- in the annual dragon fights the biggest dragon at in their clutch (usually bred from other fighters) are trained since hatching to be fighters and often separate from their mothers; they are treated the best in terms of food and shelter, but also seen as objects and go thought harsh training with dragons twice their size.
