The Militia (the government's military force) holds the authority over everything within its territory. In a bid to finally resolve the state's dilemma concerning crimes and violence, the government has resorted to eliminating human emotions using pills, thereby forcing individuals to take them in a set period of time, preventing them from feeling anything and rendering them incapable of making choices. Civilians are then programmed to follow rules precisely, carrying out the same routine tasks in identical settings every day, which has become the norm.
