Kiyan never expected to be the Avatar.
And now that she is, she's finding she never even wanted to be. She's used to her old life as a simple waterbender, with no great spiritual burdens or destinies or whatever nonsense this Avatar business has suddenly forced on her. Now, she's constantly on the run from the crazy lunatics who murdered the last two Avatars, and who've made it their mission to end the Cycle entirely.
In an attempt to finally get her out of their reach, her protectors decide that a time machine is the way to go, and send her back to 130AG, to Republic City to seek mentoring from Avatar Aang himself.
There's just one tiny problem.
She's thirty years off target.
Kiyan decides to wait out the end of the Hundred Years War in a little Earth Kingdom village with the family who's been kind enough to take her in. After all, she's safe there, and she never asked for this whole Avatar deal anyway.
Unfortunately, fate has other plans, and her masterful strategy for avoiding danger is thrown into chaos with the arrival of a familiar scarred swordsman.

How are you supposed to move forward when you can't stop regretting your past? Everyone walked away from the Battle of The Sun & The Moon a different person than they were before. With no time to mourn the loss of Princess Yue the team sets their sights on the Earth Kingdom; Aang needing to master earthbending and the Earth King's support vital to win the war. There the Avatar struggles with the stubborn element while the Akira struggles with her own inner turmoil. Free to make her own choices for the first time ever, Aelita finds herself in a near-constant battle with her inner demons. The life she once knew is long gone and the girl she once was has slowly been dying ever since that fateful night in Spirit Oasis. Shukaku said she and Aang would know when the world needed a warrior or a pacifist, but the signs are far from easy to read. But Aelita Kensin isn't the only one with demons. Walking away from the girl that used to be his peace and seeing his throne slip from his fingers has left Zuko resentful and hurt. If this was his rock bottom, he wasn't sure there was any climbing up. With fire quickly breathing down his neck the banished Prince must decide who he wants to be before the choice is made for him. Everything the Fire Lord worked so hard for was steadily being destroyed by a little girl. One son was a failure, his only brother a traitor, the Avatar a threat and Aelita Kenshin a problem he should've dealt with long ago. Admiral Zhao's loss at the North Pole was the first major defeat the Fire Nation ever had under Ozai's rule and he swore he'd stop at nothing to make sure it was his last. The people of the Earth Kingdom are diverse and strong. More determined than ever the team is ready to dig their heels in, prepared to face the war and any new challenges head on. No one is safe from change as they are carved in rock. Book Two of the series Akira: The Legend of Aelita. Proceeded by Book One: Reborn in Water, followed by Book Three: Forged in Fire.

Heimat: a place that you can call home; a sense of belongingness, acceptance, safety and connection to homeland A decade has passed after the final battle between the Avatar and the Fire Nation, a decade after the defeat of their Fire Lord. It is a time of prosperity for most, but the crimes commited during the war couldn't be reversed. Benders were taken away from their families, people were slaughtered, their belongings, homes and land taken away. This, had been the instance when it came to the northwest part of the Earth Kingdom, that had went on to become the Fire Nation colonies. The people of the Fire Nation and the Earth Kingdom lived on in the land that was given to them and gradually, they became one. They collaborated and cooperated in order to live and so they got richer, learnt to depend on each other for their survival. By the end of the war, the people, even though they came from different backgrounds, were one. A decade after the end of the war, the Avatar is commanded to solve the matter of whether the former Fire Nation citizens need to move or not. Aang believes the nations need to be separated. The people in the colonies do not, hatred starts to grow in their hearts. The Avarar will need the help of a companion more than any other time, and there is no better person to aid him than the secret waterbender that's part of the Fire Nation fleet, the woman who risked her own life to get him to safety, even though this had been the first time they had met in their lives. *This is the SECOND book of the "Daughter of the Moon" series, so go read "Book One: Water" if you haven't already* Elara finds herself on the run with Prince Zuko and General Iroh as they scramble out of the clutches of both the Fire Nation and the rest of the world, adopting a new identity to hide their tracks. As she lives her life on the run, she can't help but feel herself growing closer to Zuko; closer in a way that she never thought possible. Perhaps she could settle down and live a simple life away from the war. Perhaps she could turn away from her duties as the Little Moon, and perhaps she could force herself forget about her little band of heroes so that she could live the normal life she deserved. Only the spirits know that life never goes the way one plans... Zuko X OC The characters and events of this story are based on the brilliant workings of Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino. Therefore, I do not own the characters and events used other than Elara and her adventure.
