max and Lucas start off by living in a small town called Hawkins. they are in the same class, in the same town and have some of the same interests. Max and Lucas used to be friends but now they ignore each other and don't talk to each other. until one day they are paired up together in biology class and are forced to have to work on this project together. (Short story of enemies to lovers!)
