Anne Pevensie was constantly overshadowed by her siblings. She was shy and smart, but not as smart as Susan, and not as defiant as Edmund. She was the oldest daughter, a burden she bore every day.

When Lucy brings her and her family through a wardrobe and into Narnia, Anne has hope that maybe this magical world will fill what she was missing.

It doesn't. It gives her the short straw, just as England had.
