Nearly a thousand years ago, a war between two ancient creatures broke out, nearly causing the destruction of earth itself. As this was a war between the Primordial Dragons, and their sworn rivals the Echinemon. The Primordial Dragons and the Echinemon's war was nothing but a simple war, as it stemmed from jealousy and resentment. The Echinemon's desire for the Primordial Dragons throne over the earth was so strong, they sought for the destruction of every dragon as to usurp the throne from under them. Thus the 10 year war between the two began. As the war was nearing an end nothing could have prepared these ancient dragons for what was in store for them. With a final attack from the Echinemons, the remaining hundred or so Draco-Knights who guarded the last two remaining Primordial Dragons were gone. The Nagaara, or Dragon queen hadn't a clue of what to do. With her last moments as the Nagaara, she used all the remaining power she had, creating a crystallized tomb around herself, and her daughter. As she slowly began to fade away, she encased her only daughter in chrysalis causing her to drift into a state of sleep. As the Nagaara began to fade from having no more power, she chanted a blessing with her dying breath... "I, the Nagaara of the Primordial Dragons, pleed to my ancestors to heed my words. As my daughter comes of age, she will rise as the new Nagaara and bring on a new era for dragons. A new dawn for our kingdom wil rise, and she will be the one to bring the world back to life." As the Nagaara finished her blessing, a tear rolled down her cheek and she was gone. The only thing to remain from her departure of this world, was the tomb where she had encased her beloved daughter... Many years passed, and the Echinemons gave up their pursuit in breaking through the tomb and vanished, as if they lay in wait for the last Primordial Dragon to wake...

A riveting coming of age story about an orphaned dracon shifter's struggle to control her own fate. "Black as a moonless night, might makes right," Joel whispered the old saying under his breath. His fingers clenched around my wrist before he released me and stepped away, his aura flashing with yellows and spring greens - excited and amused. Mostly excited. Definitely not afraid. "Precisely," I said. Out of the corner of my eye, I watched Grandfather's deep purple aura turn orange. Feigned disappointment. In his opinion, aura reading was a potential weakness and one he never hesitated to exploit. He only broadcast his emotions when he wanted someone to read them. I rolled my eyes. "Stop acting so disappointed, Grandfather. This is what you wanted, isn't it? Why else would he-" I nodded to Joel "-be here? Our world is beneath his notice unless you invited him." "Lured," Joel supplied helpfully. So I wasn't the only one Grandfather tricked. "Tell me, Grandfather. Did you want Director Nease dead?"
