Madelyn Volkov grew up in the world of Hunters and Protectors. Two strong races with impeccable abilities to protect and hunt. In seeing her father murdered at the age of thirteen Madelyn decided it was to hunt or be hunted. Madelyn took the steps to darkness, training to hunt and kill. Strengthening her skills as she grew. 

On her seventeenth birthday Madelyn was assigned to hunt family friend Carston Berthold for he had switched from hunter to protector, and what's worse than murder? Switching.
However, Madelyn's path to darkness quickly took a side step when she was stopped in the process of her hunt by a protector.
