Avalon is a strong tracker for her pack. When people try to run, she finds them. When people get lost, she finds them.
The only family Avalon has is her sister, but she barely even has her. Which is made clear during Avalon's induction ceremony, when her sister not only doesn't show up, but runs away, to another continent.
It is here that Avalon is given the hardest thing any tracker has ever had to do, find themselves.

Looking at the motivational poster, I couldn't stop myself from snorting at the ridiculousness of it all. 'Why fit in, when you were born to stand out?'
