Eleanor is your regular teenager from the small rural town of Granville, Ohio. After her mom gets a raise and relocation from her job her family is forced to move to the bustling city of Atlanta, Georgia. But she grew up in a close-knit community where everyone knew each other since elementary school. She has watched an ungodly amount of 80's movies and CW shows. Eleanor assumes that adapting to the big city life shouldn't be that hard... right? Eleanor quickly makes friends with the charming twins Aiden (Laura Jean's ex) and Addison (Laura Jean's ex-bff), who introduces her to their social circle. But soon enough everything takes a turn when she crosses paths with The Plastics, a group of self-proclaimed "Mean Girls"which consists of the ditzy (bleached) blonde Lucia, the rumor-filled gossip machine Aribella, and the self-proclaimed Queen bee Laura Jean. Addison warns Eleanor to steer clear of The Plastics, but she ignores (OK ignores is a harsh word) the advice and ends up sitting at their lunch table. Soon enough she's entangled in their messy drama getting involved in their petty squabbles, and even worse spreading rumors. As she becomes more and more engrossed in their world, she starts to question... if being a mean girl is such a bad thing? (Spoiler, alert, it is)
