When Anaelise, a young single mother, is gifted her grandmother's estate before she passes, she thinks her family's reaction will be the most complicated aspect of her life. Little does she know, her new next-door neighbors will be making her life more interesting.

A dying grandmother gifts her expensive colonial estate to one of her grandchildren--a young, newly-divorced mother struggling to provide for her son. The family is torn between being jealous over missing out on $750k and being glad Anaelise and young Jonah are provided for after a long time of hardship.

But the executor of the will, Anaelise's Aunt Lorene, is firm in her opinion that her late mother acted unfairly and made a rash deathbed decision. She'll do anything to see the wrong righted, including taking Anaelise to court--as if Anaelise and her son don't have enough to worry about.

When they move into the estate, they encounter a variety of unexpected problems--and unexpected neighbors. Anaelise struggles to adapt to the new surroundings, and Jonah can't seem to get his footing at school. But, their neighbors might be able to help.
