Zak Anderson, a rookie lantern from the planet of Earth, who also is the 4th human to ever don the Green Power Ring of Willpower, had been studying and tutoring under the three other human lanterns of Sector 2814, Guy Gardener, John Stewart, and the first human Green Lantern, Hal Jordan. 

Ever since 2008, the boy had become their protégé and tutored under them. 

However, today was the day he was supposed to evolve from a rookie to a full-fledged lantern.
