Teresa (aka Tessa) Bowers, lives in Derry, Maine. It's the summer of 1989, and it soon becomes a brutal summer when her old brother, Henry, starts bullying her friends even worse than he did during the school year.
Tessa is in a friend group mostly containing immature boys, except for one other girl, Beverly Marsh. She's been friends with this group called "The Losers Club" since Kindergarten, she's even head over heels for the leader of the club, Willam (Bill) Denbrough. She's liked him for years, but is forbidden to ever tell him, because her brother forbids her from dating any of the loser boys. After a terrible school year, she's ready to have an amazing summer but soon realizes that will never happen.
After her brother finds out about her little crush, he takes matters into his own hands...and it doesn't end well.
