The end of the world had created a before and an after-Roxy and Xan-two girls with the same face and entirely different lives. Love and happiness had shaped Roxy into a sweet girl who could never say a lick of bad. Death and Zombies had shaped Roxy into Xan, a girl who shot better than the best soldiers and kept everyone at an arms length, including herself.

Yet now, as they set out on one last mission for the human race (Get savior Alvin Murphy to California to be a lab rat) Xan finds herself not able to keep the annoying 10k away. He was a stray, a pickup, a waste of time-all things she had used to describe him when he had been invited along-and now he was a thorn in her side. Always there, always annoying, and always saving her from everything.

She hated it. She hated him. Yet she would give blood and bones to keep him safe.
