Vālmīki's Rāmāyaṇa inspired the stories in this collection to answer questions such as these:

What would Rāma have thought about a monument to mark his janmabhūmi?
Why did Rāma tell Bharata that the kingdom was Kaikeyī's bride-price?
How did Hanumat get the idea that Rāvaṇa never abducted any unwilling or married woman before Sītā?
Why did the luminous herbs disappear when Hanumat came for them?
At what age were Rāma and Sītā exiled?
Did Hanumat witness Dhānyamālinī or Mandodarī distracting Rāvaṇa from Sītā?
How could Mahodara and Mahāpārśva return to battle after they were slain?

The title is Saṃskṛta and means "Recognize Ayodhyā In The Wilderness," which was part of Sumitrā's advice to Lakṣmaṇa in Vālmīki's Rāmāyaṇa.

The first six chapters are Drabbles of exactly 100 words, and the next eight chapters are Microtales of 15 words. Much later, I added another Drabble as the fifteenth chapter. Each story is based on Vālmīki's Rāmāyaṇa, and supported with citations from the text.

In the silent streets of Mathura, the wind blew fast and loud while the clouds were absorbing the color of grey. The atmosphere was getting dark and dull in the midst of all this a blue man, radiating a positive energy stared at the sky with squinted eyes. The sound of anklet echoed and Rukmini showed up,looking at her lord she inquired, "Arya, is something troubling you?" "Rukmini, I have started to lose my ray of hope." Krishna answered. Ramayana. An Indian epic that has lived through the centuries and has only grown even more in the process. An epic that shows ideal characters, many of whom we worship, and other characters from whom we learn what we shouldn't be at any cost. But one thing that has been a constant for many centuries now is the examples we give, referring to the epic. One of the most popular ones being "Be a brother like Rama." Not only is the Ramayana an enchanting tale of love and devotion, but it's also an equally magical example of brotherhood and affection. Brothers who stood with each other through thick and thin. Brothers who would readily sacrifice their life for the other. Brothers who would love the other, and support him when nobody else did. This book brings to you the Ramayana, but this time, the limelight is on the inseparable brothers. *** Disclaimer: Please do not read this book if you do not like humanization of deities. However, I can assure you that ALL relationships in this book are shown the way they're meant to be - no non-canon shipping. I can also assure you, that since I myself am a devotee of Shri Rama, that you will never have me intentionally writing anything against him, his real nature - the same goes for the others - Sita, Lakshmana, Urmila, Bharata, Mandavi, Shatrughna, Shrutakeerti, Dasharatha, the mothers... All of them will always get their due respect in this book. Secondly, I've followed the Valmiki Ramayana throughout. Some incidents may be revelations, as quite a few things are contrary to popular perception and other versions. Thank you! Fantastic cover designed by @Mochis4lifeq52627 <3
The Burning Rose by Bree_Cloudburst

A MAHABHARATA RETELLING ~~~ All the other flowers in the garden were brought up to envy the rose. Maybe shun it even. And admire it, too. Unusual ways. Too-red petals, too-sharp thorns, too-sweet fragrance. If only each flower did not have a mind of its own. If only stories were truly what one hand wrote them to be. If only the blood on every thorn was the fault of the rose and not that of the hunter. ~~~ Her breathing had suddenly halted as her eyes had accidentally landed on a piece of paper carelessly tucked under the lampholder on the bedside table. It looked like the work of a royal servant who had accidentally come across it while cleaning the room and then picked it up and tucked it away. She had carefully sat up and reached for it. The hot metal of the lampholder - like the one she had seen Draupadi seamlessly remove from a counter - had almost seared her palm, as she had hurriedly but carefully pushed it aside and retrieved the folded piece of what seemed like pearlescent paper. Touching it had felt like a grave invasion of privacy, but the curiosity that had suddenly roared and raced within her like a great river breaking free off a cliff. She had hurriedly unfolded the paper and had been greeted by a not-so-perfect handwriting and a volley of letters. It was a letter. A letter that looked like someone had ripped their heart out and presented it to someone on a piece of pearlescent paper. ~~~ WARNINGS: Scenes of intimacy and violence, possible hints of self-harm or similar intentions
Rajarshi Vrishaketu: From A Beer Yodhha To A Sage King (Karna Series 7) by Amropali
29 parts Ongoing Mature
This is the last story of my Karna series where I want to write the story of his most unknown Son, Vrishaketu. He is the son of a greatest Archer and warrior of India, Karna. He is rumoured to be the son of his second neglected wife Supriya, worshiper of Karna. By birth he was Surpriyo, but unfortunately the Boy knew himself was Padmanav or Son of his first wife Padmavati. He himself was a greatest archer with apt Knowledge of Divine weapons or Divya Astra and powerful fighters. He was the last person upon this earth with such knowledge of Divine weapons yet he was not permitted by Lord Krishna to use any of them in the Ran Bhoomi or battlefield. Did he follow his orders whole life? Even being the greatest warrior of his time, he was defeated by the Iron Man of India or Aryavart, the long forgotten son of his uncle Arjuna and aunt Chitrangada, Babrubahan. Was he a cowardly man as told by maharishi Ved Vyas or something else? Why did he choose the way of peace and in later life, he became the messenger of the peace in the Aryavart after his mother Padma and his sister-in-law Vatsyala? Why was his relation with his son Soumyajit very complex and complicated who took the peace loving nature of his father as a sign of his Kawarta or cowardice? Why did Vrishaketu prefer his twin nephews, the sons of Padmaja and Pradumna, Shaturghna and Tamoghna, over his son and why so? Why did Parikshit hate him and later repented hard? Why did his other nephew Soumayajit worship him like a God? This is the story of heartbreak, lust, love, pain and lifelong agony, endless trial to prove himself worthy, fight against the social hierarchy and stigma, discovering of true identity and love. It may contain some mature contents. The story is completely mine based on the story of Uttar Mahabharat time and a purely fan fiction. No resemblance with any living or dead. The characters are taken from Ved Vyas Mahabharata. The images courtesy from Google Chrome, YouTube and Pinterest.
