Verilulia is a country in Europe right between Austria and Italy. Don't bother trying to look it up on a world map because you won't find it. That's because this country is inhabited by sorcerers and other magical creatures, who very much like their privacy. So much so that the Kings and Queens of the five kingdoms, also known as the Elders, put a protective barrier around the country that no human could ever penetrate. Had a human wandered across the border they would simply find themselves transported to the other side, unless they were given permission to enter.

It was a huge yet simple rule in Verilulia that all citizens knew about. Never reveal yourself to a human. You could live among them, but you could never reveal your magic to them, and you especially could not fall in love with one.

In this small country only inhabited by sorcerers not many major conflicts happen. Many of the sorcerers go on with their day minding their own business. It was peaceful. That is until the day children start to go missing during the night without a trace.

Peyton Messier is a bookworm living in a small town, someone who was different from the rest of the country. Prince Xavier Knight is the quiet genius, someone who would someday rule the Kingdom of Rubellite. Not that he really wants to.

Two very different people living two different lives, but all that is soon going to change when the path of these two people intertwine, possibly changing the world forever.

Then again, maybe they'll kill each other first.

Will Rowen fold into the forces of dark magic or honor her true self? *** On the surface, Rowen Keckilpenny-Brown seems like a normal teenage girl with normal teen problems-no boyfriend, overprotective parents, and no friends other than a three-legged cat. When Rowen accidentally blows up the school gym, she discovers a dark secret her fathers have kept from her-she's the heir to an evil queen's throne. The current evil queen, Petronella Grimshaw, is desperate to crown Rowan the new sovereign and blackmails her into traveling to the queendom. She must fight her true fate, in the process uncovering deep familial mysteries and perhaps the biggest secret ever...That maybe, just maybe, she deserves to be loved after all. Niccola is a demi-queen undercover in enemy territory. Her little sister went missing seven moons ago, but one lead remains: a picture of a woman's face, drawn by a diviner shortly after the disappearance. Tracking her down has led Niccola to Calis, the realm next door whose border with her own remains closed for a reason. There, the trail goes cold. Until, that is, Niccola runs into a man in the marketplace who bears a family resemblance to the woman she seeks. His name is Isaiah, crown prince of Calis, and he's investigating disappearances, too. They join forces, faking courtship to sneak Niccola into the palace and get Isaiah's wedding-minded mother off his back. It doesn't take long to suspect that a common threat might underpin both their realms' problems. And as Niccola begins to develop real feelings for Isaiah, she's faced with an impossible choice: reveal her secrets and risk breaking his trust, or leave him in order to chase down the woman who stole her sister... a woman whose forbidden magic comes with a cost that could bring both realms to ruin. ❖❖❖ Complete and fully edited. Previously a soldier for the King, now betrothed to his son, Prince Roan, Emrys Ortega is starting to feel the burden of the title she never wanted. After repeatedly sneaking out of the palace leads to a sinister threat from the King, Emrys begins to worry for her family's safety. So when she learns that one of her kingdom's soldiers has been kidnapped by the Queen of another Kingdom, Valoria, she sees this as her opportunity to redeem herself in the King's eyes and protect her family. The only problem is that she had no idea the Kingdom of Valoria even existed. In fact, the Kingdom is unlike her own. It's filled with the same monsters from the stories she had been told-monsters of the night. "You ungrateful bitch. I keep a roof over your head, and this is the thanks I get?" "You could have killed her," I retort, trying to muster up confidence that I don't possess.
