Book 1: The Fated Prince

There is a natural order of things in the Kingdom of Calineer. You have the Goddess of Fate, an omnipotent creator who controls the fates of all men. Then, you have the King, Caldrassus, Fate's representative on the Earthern Plane, the owner of Her power (the Soulstone). It is through this power that he controls his people. Those who are chosen by Fate to carry her Mark and thereby carry her magic control the fates of those less fortunate - the mundane, powerless humans.

That is, until, the King's own son, Aerran, is not chosen by Fate. He cannot perform magic and thus is ostracized from society and branded useless. But it is this event that results in a chain reaction, a national shift, a power imbalance... the King's bloodline is weak, therefore the King's right to rule is weakened.

And Aerran. He soon comes to realise the humiliation that ordinary people without magic suffer on a daily basis. He experiences it himself. And so he waits. He suffers. He plots. Revenge is but a waiting game after all...
