It had been a thousand years since an asteroid slammed into the Earth, wiping out three quarters of the population and mingling the Underworld with the Living.
And now, a fierce war between Undead and Living broke out. A peace treaty, kept for nine generations, had expired, and the eight major Undead and Living camps were waging war.
History was repeating. Again.
In a desperate attempt to quash the wars, it was decided a deadly tournament would be held to decide on a missionary to send to the camps, to persuade them to sign another treaty and ensure peace. On their return, the missionary would be rewarded with gold and prestige.
There's just one catch- sixteen Undead and Living, would enter the Colosseum, where countless lives were spent. And only one would walk out.
Yes, history is repeating again.
"Ready to die?" she asked.
"Not quite yet," I said.

August 19th, 2076 "Welcome, Welcome to the 150th annual of The Survivors Tournament . You all may know the rules but we still have to go over them because we can so, suck it up. Rule #1-" RULES 1. No friends with any one - if you do your dead 2. Survive on your own - if you don't you'll die 3. Collect food 4. Collect water 5. Make first aide 6. Keep your group alive - two in a group if there is more than two then all die from that group 7. Don't die - maybe 8. Survive a month 9. If one dies from your group you get double amount of time, minus double of what you have 10. Win and see what you get at the end 11. You only will hear about your distract's death, you won't hear any other news till the tournament is over Same old shit that we have to listen to like, choose two people from each distract tell them the rules, then tell the rest of the distract when and where to watch the tournament. I thought. I turned to my brother who is two years older me and understands everything, been hearing this tournament for twenty years and still hasn't been chosen. I have no idea why he wants to go in the tournament like why do you want to enter you can die, then he just says "I rather die from something more real then boredom.", do have to agree though he makes a good point, dieing from something more real then boredom will be better. "The distract residents who aren't in the tournament will be right here when ever they wake up and start watching. We will be choosing a female and a male, you maybe that lucky one who gets to be in the tournament. We are going to do males first, and the lucky handsome little man is, Dean Baker." She said my brother, he did a little happy dance then went back to being all mopey. He stood and went to the stage where the one chick is standing. "Now for the females, that beautiful devil angel is-" she reaches her hand into the fish bowl, make circle movements, picked one up and said "Sammy Baker" (Short story - completed)

No one really knew how X's came to be. One day there weren't any, the next day half the population was wiped out. All Karma knew was that they are technological monsters, fit to be the world's biggest weapon, after the splitting particle ray which could reduce any person into air particles in a millisecond. Karma realised how simple it would be to destroy an army even with one X. They were practically indestructible, perfect killing machines, only they'd turned on the government, apparently. Or maybe those bastards had escaped perfectly unharmed, watching how the country was being destroyed. Maybe it was an excuse for overpopulation. xx-xx Karma has been trying to survive for over a year, but it's difficult when X's, mechanical killing machines, roam the streets, hungry for human flesh. Every day that passes by without finding a portal brings the morale lower. They need to escape the country before they all end up dead. It doesn't help that the X's have changed their tactics and are now manipulating people to commit suicide. The death rate keeps increasing, and Karma has to find out what family means, and to what extremes she would go to save the ones she loves.
