The Master Emerald has once again been stolen!
Knuckles has been defeated by a mysterious intruder named Haria, who possesses a strange appearance and wields the power of Chaos energy with great skill. After defeating Knuckles, Haria has taken control of Angel Island and is using it for their own purposes. While trying to retrieve the Master Emerald, Sonic, along with Tails and Knuckles, accidentally uncovers Haria's identity and their past.
