In the Novel Redemption the main character Emma Ames finds herself unable to outrun the mysterious death of her father Matthew. When her mother Beth's questionable mental illness takes a turn she decides to tell Emma the truth. "They knew we were going to take you. I had to wait, make them feel secure again. Make them think it was all Matthew. I waited them out letting them think you were theirs. Until that night Emma, that night we ran away. You were finally free. Free to grow, and be your own person. Your own problem", her mother smiled at her through the tears. Emma responded "Mom what are you talking about I've always loved you". Beth hushed Emma, "but I'm not your mother, and Matt was not your father". Emma wouldn't hear it "Mom stop I always knew deep down I was adopted. It's okay you are still my parents." Beth needed to tell her the whole truth "Emma, you were not adopted you were given to us. Matthew and I were to raise you, and then give you back". Emma cut her off "What are you talking about mom? Stop talking this way. It's just the medications you're on. We'll talk later when your better and have had time to rest". Beth wouldn't rest "No, listen to me we don't have time. Don't trust them. Don't trust any of them". As the story unfolds Emma is faced with the death of her mother Beth. An unknown Uncle James steps up to offer his support to his now destitute niece per the request of his distant sister. Emma, following the wishes of her deceased mother, agrees to follow James back to their family's home town of Linden, Michigan. Beth's dyeing words haunt Emma as she struggles to adapt to her new surroundings. The reappearance of a man she had met in a brief kiss between strangers takes Emma off guard. As she deals with her life and the truth of whom or what the object of her affection is unveils the truth of her own existence. The world she thought she knew is forever changed.

The story is about two people who meet by chance and quickly form a genuine connection, despite only knowing each other for a short time. It highlights the natural progression of a budding relationship, shaped by cautiousness, vulnerability, and the willingness to take risks. The narrative centers around the protagonist, who, after meeting a woman he finds intriguing, begins to feel a deepening attachment. However, past experiences and emotional scars make him hesitant to rush into anything too soon. He doesn't want to make the same mistakes, so he takes a measured approach. Their conversations are filled with honesty, humor, and mutual respect, which only fuels his growing feelings for her. In Part One, the protagonist is unsure of whether he should act on his feelings. He carefully opens up to her, expressing his hesitations while still acknowledging his growing attraction. She, in turn, responds with a sense of maturity and understanding, offering him the space to figure out what he truly wants. Part Two shows the protagonist wrestling with his emotions, yet ultimately deciding to take a leap of faith. He realizes that while it's still early, the connection they share is worth pursuing, and he chooses to express his feelings honestly. The story concludes with him asking her out properly, feeling hopeful and open to seeing where this new chapter might lead. Overall, the story is a journey of self-reflection, growth, and learning to trust in both one's feelings and the other person. It's about striking the balance between caution and taking chances in relationships, especially when both people seem to have the same genuine intentions. It speaks to the importance of honesty, communication, and the willingness to take things one step at a time, rather than rushing into something without considering the deeper emotional impact.
