Shirley Wellington, a sophomore at Yorkville High, has harbored a deep-seated hatred for Jackson Baker ever since they met in the third grade. The two have shown their dislike towards each other through various 'pranks' and many violations of the school code. However, Shirley's carefully constructed walls begin to crumble when she is unexpectedly tasked with interviewing Jackson about his football team for the school newspaper. As if that wasn't enough, Shirley is also struggling to balance her burgeoning writing career with her job at the local bakery. Shirley begins to develop feelings for Jackson that she can't quite explain. She finds herself drawn to his easy smile and infectious laugh, despite her best efforts to resist. Now, Shirley must navigate these complicated emotions and the demands of her busy life, all while trying to figure out how to write a compelling short story for her countys national writing competition.

"Anyways have I told you that you have really pretty eyes?" she asked as she got closer pushing a strand of hair behind my ear catching me off guard, a small tint of blush creeping on my face. "No-no you haven't." I stuttered lightly making her chuckle as she looked deep into my eyes, admiring them, before breaking out silence leading us into a light-hearted conversation. ************* Love does a lot of things to people for Jayden Dawson it makes a school rivalry take a whole new turn as a composition for her love ensues.
