After her husband's death, Gojo Kyouko takes her thirteen-year-old son from their old family estate, away from her late husband's family, and lives a life in Tokyo. Finding an apartment for them both, Kyouko struggles with being a single mother supporting herself and her son. Just as she thought her whole life would be just her and her son, she meets her neighbor, Fushiguro Toji, who is in the same situation as her as he has a three-year-old son and is more than willing to help.

As her and Toji's relationship blossoms, and Satoru starts to open up to Megumi whom he babysits for some extra cash, dark secrets arise as Kyouko's past comes back to take Satoru back to the Gojo house.
