Kai and the Vks are back as they tried to adapt to Auradon life. When the pressure to be royally perfect gets to be too much for Mal, she returns to the Isle of the Lost. She discovers that Uma, the daughter of Ursula, has taken over as queen, and that her gang is finalizing plans to bring down the barrier and its up to Kai and the Vks to stop her but their are new
threats emerging as Kai collides with the daughter of Mothra, the son of Rodan, and the son of his father's ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these children of ancient super-species-thought to be mere myths-rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity's very existence hanging in the balance.
