Strange things are happening to strange people in the town of Grissom. Moody giant Parker Kingsley is suddenly becoming more and more concerned about the well-being of the sickly, enigmatic, infamous alleged murderer, Quilla Sanders, coincident with the consistently intensifying ache in his back and increasing intensity of deja vú and vengeful malice. For her part, Quilla Sanders has her plate full with her unwelcome, strangely specific prescience and the fetters of her past, but there's more to come. Her already strange dreams are becoming even stranger, often visited by a huge, winged, beautiful yet monstrous creature with glowing green eyes. And her classmate Parker Kingsley seems to know more about her than he should.

As an insidious plan goes awry, blue clouds repeatedly cloak the sky, mysterious creatures begin to lurk in the shadows and Death himself comes face to face, the two teenagers - unwilling soldiers in a sinister war - must walk the thin line between the worldly and supernatural, all the while discovering that they aren't who they thought themselves to be.

"They are so... dead," Theara look up from her bloodied hands and grabbed a fistfull of her hair as she shuddered. "I killed them?" she angled her head as she observed her classmates' corpses with fascination. "I know this looks bad Levi, but I had to do it." "No, you really didn't," he clenched his jaw in attempt to hold down his rage as he leaned down to close his best friend's eyes. His icy blue eyes narrowed as they searched her pale green eyes skeptically. "There is no way you can sugercoat what you just did, Theara. And then on top of it all, your excuse is nothing short of crazy. You're a murderer." She wanted to argue, but the evidence spoke for itself. She was a mess. Vulnerable. Fragile had never been so lethal. And she was had the audacity to enjoy her new found, murderous power. ◇ ◇ ◇ The quaint lake town of Old Linden's skeletons come tumbling out when Moss Vale's anomalies start leaking out in the broader society and wreak havoc on life as they knew it.
