Seventeen year old Josh Porter's life hasn't been easy which is why he resorted to a life of con when he was very young...Although, he calls it being a 'resourceful survivalist' which has provided him a lavish lifestyle, and the opportunity to obtain very nice things, all while having more money than he has known what to do with. And, unfortunately for Josh his luck ran out as Detective Montgomery finally caught the guy he's been chasing for years, which was a complete shock to Det. Montgomery when he found out who he was dealing with was a teenager. Having kids of his own the same age did something to Det. Montgomery. It made him want to help him, give him a second chance. So he does. Instead of jail time, he offers Josh house arrest in his custody at his home, with his family. Josh was reluctant to take this deal, but if he stays out of trouble he will be free by the time he's 18.
Meanwhile, there is Hannah Montgomery, Det. Montgomery's seventeen year old daughter. All Hannah has ever focused on is getting into her dream college, Princeton. She has been laser focused and nothing has steered her away from her dream. Nothing until Josh Porter started living in the room next to hers.

(I am about to undergo major edits on the entire story soon. I wrote this when I was 13, and since it is my first story, I owe it the proper creation it deserves. Thank you for your patience, and I hope you will enjoy!) Samantha, Sam, Peers - a 13 year old girl who grew up with an abusive father who hits her every time she talked or laughed. So Sam just stopped saying anything, but when she accidentally bumped into her father he her beat again. Now Sam flinches at every sudden move, waits until everyone is out of the class room to leave for her next class, she walks so she doesn't have to sit next to anybody on the bus, and if you say her name she puts her hands over head in attempt to block out the world. So when she comes to school for the fifth time looking all beat up with a swollen lip and a bruised cheek the principal calls the authorities. Sam's father gets put into jail while she has to stay at the police station until they can figure out what to do with her. Because of how she was treated Sam can't stay at a foster home and because she is so scared of people she can't go through the adoption process. But when a lawyer hears of her situation from a friend who's police officer he wants to help this young girl realize that not every person is like her father and that its ok to have fun and be a kid. So him and his family take Sam in to show her that she doesn't have to hide her voice or lock herself away from the world. And with the help of his wife and four sons they just might get her to open up to them. Sam might think that if she makes any noise or even one mistake she'll get punished but the Whelms family is here to prove her wrong.Complete

Carmen is screwed up. She's been in and out of juvie all her life and seriously there's no place she'd rather be. Until she gets released from juvie unexpectedly, given a probation officer, and forced to live with a normal family and go to a normal school. Carmen doesn't even know the definition of normal. Much less family, or school. Separated from the only system she's known and has stayed constant all her life, she finds it hard to adjust to the world outside the concrete building. The structure and rules aren't the same. In juvie, rules were like opinions, people ignored them. But in the real world, supposedly it wasn't socially acceptable to steal cash, or graffiti the front of the school building. Enter the Harrisons, the family who's taking care of her. The matriarch of the family hates her criminal record. Sammy, the seven-year-old, is too clingy, too innocent, and too naive to understand anything. Then there's Jay, the guy she's forced to share a room with. A self-righteous son of a bitch, Jay doesn't understand Carmen and doesn't understand her self destructive way of thinking. Though he's not bothered by her, he's fascinated with her. The family represents the structure and rules that Carmen doesn't, nor wants to, understand. But as Carmin starts to push back at the structure and rules suddenly rushed into her life, it starts to change. Her whole way of living is thrown off balance, what she deems normal isn't. And through a series of events, she starts to spiral out of control, and she doesn't know if someone can pull her up from that. Carmen was given a second chance, but is it a good chance, or is it just another recipe for getting thrown right back to square one, like she always is? He and Mikayla are fighting habitually, his home life is still unbearable, and his time at school is hardly any better, made worse by a bully named Calvin. Their mutual dislike of one another leads to a lot of hostility, routinely leading to Jay being sent to his school's principal. One confrontation in particular goes much too far, resulting in Jay's expulsion from school.
