For years, Courteney Sampson has been silent. At the age of five, she remains in her own little world. Bullied at school by a classmate named Gwen and sometimes Gwen's best friend LeShawna , she has just seven friends ( Heather , Alejandro , DJ , Cody , Sierra , Noah , and Emma ) until her bad boy neighbor Duncan Nelson. Duncan stands by her, refusing to believe that she is not perfect the way she is. Over the next few years of high school they have developed their own version of a normal friendship. However, will it still work as they start to grow even closer? When Duncan keeps asking questions about someone from her past, can she hold her secret in any longer?
