Steven Universe, on a mission with the Crystal Gems, finds a large black gemstone with wave like patterns in the colors of fire. He shows it to the gems, who've surprisingly 'never' seen such a gem before, and with a bit of convincing, allow him to take it home.
When Steven awoke to get a midnight snack, the gem reformed and appeared in his kitchen.
Who was this? Why havn't the gem's heard of him before? Why did he feel such a pull to him? What does he know? All of these questions are answered in, The Onyx Recruit! (Title and cover pending)
