If you go down to the woods today... Well, in this town, you probably won't come back. Unexplained deaths and disappearances are normal around here. In Haltonshaw Grove, we tell these real life horror stories to our kids like bedtime tales. They help us learn from a young age to stay out of the forest after dark. But one halloween, we didn't listen- Me and four boys. We broke the rules and we paid the price. We barely made it out alive and now we live with the trauma, the nightmares, the memories. Seven years later, the events of that night, like most things tend to do around here, have come back to haunt us. We never talked about the night we ran in the forest, never spoke afterwards at all really, but now we're going to need each other if we're going to survive what's coming. When he glances back at me and sees the obvious disgust on my face, he closes his eyes, rubbing his lips together in amusement. There is a rare show of softness for me when he looks at me his fingers stroke my chin to cheer me up. "I'm going to fuck you, aren't I?" my breathing picks up, and I try to see the deception but find none. Just his arrogance and lust. For me. It is through the attachments, love, support, consistency, determination and dreams do we find the will to push through and accomplish what needs to be done that is set out for us to tackle.
