They all share a strong bond (they view each other as family or possibly more) and are peaceful gang members. The gang leader is struggling with a drug addiction but has not confided in the rest of the group. The gang consists of five members: Hazel (Aiden's younger sister, sensitive yet resilient, aged 17), Aiden (the gang leader battling drug addiction, aged 18), Evelyn (a 15-year-old lesbian who was disowned by her homophobic parents), Jadien (a 16-year-old orphan whose parents were murdered in front of him when he was 10), and Ace (a 14-year-old non-binary person who ran from abusive parents and is the newest addition to the gang). The narrative unfolds through Ace's perspective.
