"Please don't hurt me" I begged. "Oh I'm not going to hurt you... not as long as you behave yourself" he said, leaning his face closer to mine. I could feel his hot breath on my face and I could smell his cologne, it was a scent of musk and something darker... "But if you try anything..." he says, his voice taking a dangerous edge. "If you try to run or scream or otherwise cause any trouble... well then, I might change my mind". My heart rate quickened and I just nodded my head. "Good girl, you're making this easier for both of us". I gave the best of myself to someone who didn't have anything to lose. I didn't know how to avoid my lover's toxic and abusive flames. My lover's twisted words were like a maze inside of my head that I couldn't escape. Sadly, my lover's actions hypnotized my thoughts and paralyzed my thinking. Journey with me back in time as I rewrite the first Journal I kept from when I was in high school, and see that maybe even with how horrible life is most of the times, there are little things spread throughout that make life worth living. My high school experience was full of drama, tears, laughter, and most of all constant search of love, and approval of the people around me. I can't always get what I want in this world. Life is a beautiful mess. It's not perfect, and filled with a lot of disappointments, and heartbreak.
