Death by having the spine of a book repeatedly slammed into your skull until it caves in isn't the quickest way to go, but it's not the worst. What's worse is that it was done in broad daylight under clear skies by a drugged-up woman Lyn didn't even know. It's disgustingly unlucky.

So when Lyn wakes up in the book used to bash her brains in, she's unsure how to feel about it. Part of her is content to live out a peaceful afterlife in the Rukongai and watch events run their course. But Soul Society looms in the distance, and an urge to survive forces her hand.
