I was never normal. I could always feel them, everyone around me. Their fears, their desires, all that they were, I could feel. It was one thing out in the sticks, the people were happy and there weren't too many. But I thought NYU would be a wise choice. Now Manhattan screams at me, a city of terror. A city of despair. I thought I was alone in my strangeness but... A true monster revealed itself and I knew why the city was screaming. It was a city of monsters, and I was one of them. But maybe... I could be more?
Elizabeth Crowl, an empath trapped in a nightmare. She is caught between hope and despair. To succumb to the screaming city around her or to make it better?

He knows who I am. He knows how I look like. He knows where I work so possible knows where I live. I am not safe anymore... no where. While I was in my own world I heard faint sounds behind me but I didn't bother to look or run away. The footsteps got closer and I was pretty sure it was Walker's men. I should run. I should try to fight. But what's the point in trying to run away? He would eventually find me and if he has his way he would most likely kill me. If this is my fate then why am I trying to fight it? I felt someone harshly grab my waist and pull me up and I complied. They dragged me down the alley and into the busy street. Monsters are everywhere, but the human ones are the worst. At least the Creatures of the Night don't kid almost families, friends, neighbors, coworkers. Once reborn they live in the night. Sure, they do all of the same twisted things that humans do to one another, but they don't hide who they are. When you see them you know death is coming. You can predict the sick things they will do to you. But when the monster looks human, you're blindsided. One minute you're in love with a guy and the next he's slitting your throat. Trust me, I speak from experience. Gruesome things that use to make me sick now makes my stomach flutter in joy. I traded charming grins and blue eyes for carved smilies and orbs of onyx. I traded sunlight for the glow of the moon. I gave up living amongst humans for creatures of the night. And I wouldn't go back for anything in the world. I am finally home.
