The Omen, an unpredictable phenomenon that occurs once every decade, is approaching; but no one knows if it will be good or evil. In essence, once a decade, on the first day of the new year, the world is brought with one of two signs. A day plagued with storm clouds indicates disaster on the horizon, which tends to be the case most of the time. Clear skies, on the other hand, bring hope.
Growing up in LA seems like a dream. Hollywood and fame masks crime and poverty. But when you're on that invisible side, you live to survive. At least that's what Ezra learned growing up; now that he's old enough to form his own opinion, he finds himself disagreeing with a lot of family morals he learned at a young age. Ezra's dad, Don of a powerful gang, told him that one day, politics would rest in the hands of the groups that have formed out of distrust of the government, and the Devil's Advocates would be at the top. He said they were born to be winners and that Ezra would make right by his grandpa's mistakes. His life was in his father's hands. And he wielded it as he saw fit.
Charlie grew up opposite him. She formed her own morals at a young age and has stuck with them since. Her family never swayed how she thought, everything came from her own opinion. But the thing that makes Charlie different from so many people is her open-mindedness. If someone has a good claim for their opinion, she's easily able to see it from their point of view. Most people meet Charlie and love her immediately, they can't help themselves. Not even Ezra could resist her charm. Charlie's more on the poverty line than the crime one. No doubt she's surrounded by crime; everyone has been forced to since the collapse of politics.
As the two best friends face the Omen of 2030, they are challenged with lies, violence, and romance. An action packed story with relatable characters navigating the fear of life and love. This book is for all the eldest daughters who are weighed down by their family's burden.
