Cordelia has never known who she is. Raised by her cold grandfather the sea king, she has always felt different and isolated from her fellow merpeople and courtiers in the castle. Cordelia knows her family has kept secrets from her about her parents and about who she is, and all she knows about her history is her mother was banished from the kingdom long ago. However, everything changes on Cordelia's eighteenth birthday when she makes an alarming discovery about her past and a part of her that has been kept hidden by her grandfather.

Dimitry is the Crown Prince of Fulminair, a kingdom plagued with war against the neighboring kingdom of Albero. Looking for answers for how to help his people and kingdom, Dimitry takes out a ship and crew at sea to find them. When a great storm hits at sea and the prince is thrown overboard, he is saved from drowning by a mysterious beautiful girl, an encounter that will change both their lives forever.
