29. Chained by One Chained

A little more political than my usual work (unavoidable considering the source material) but nevertheless a fine piece of work. A marked improvement to some of my earlier, more forced dialogue from when I was first starting out. As I've mentioned, nothing grabs my interest in witting quite like two people talking.

The prompt for today had a fair deal of potential and I considered quite a few ideas in the wake of it, but ultimately I settled on this one. I had the idea for a more gritty rebellion story, which I've written a few bits and pieces for from time to time. The most important part of these kinds of stories is the types of people on both sides, and how you portray those who stand with or against a regime. A veritable toy store for harsh debate and clashing dialogue.

But he has his modern-day wife with him, who has her own connections to this place and time, and things get more complicated by the day. Will he be able to figure out how to get his wife back home? Will their love endure the test of the time travel? Will they manage to navigate the rough waters of their existence in the 19th century? Word Count approx. 86000. you were someone in the middle. you had no mega praise for heros to speak of, but you also had no ill will towards villains either- you had seen both sides. after a few years running a hidden, underground medical base for villains who needed treatment beneath the bar that you ran and owned, you've met your fair share of villains. it was odd to think of them as good people, since you depended on them a lot if you got yourself into a pinch. in fact, a lot of your patients became bar regulars on the public downlow. it's not a big shock that you met dabi among the years. -------------- genre: real-world to parallel world au? This year for NaNoWriMo, I am writing a short story anthology. It will feature thirty or so short stories (my hope is to write one per day to fulfill my 1,667 per day word requirement) about varying things. Each morning, I will randomly select a number between one and thirty and I will look at the corresponding list of first lines I will have. I will take that line and write a short story using it and then the next day I will do the process over again (some stories might relate to each other, some might not). Anyway I will edit the story for that day and post it here. It may not be posted exactly on the corresponding day, but in the end there will be thirty short stories. P.S. Although these are somewhat edited they are still rough drafts so please treat them as such.
