The year is 1936. It has been five years since the Big Bright Bombings ended the Great War of 1914 and set the world ablaze. It has been five years since the Union established Victory Shelters to protect its populace.
A lone person, a VICTORY ANGEL from Victory Shelter 126 leaves for the Surface and discovers a strange and violent land in the wake of the World After. The Union of the World Before is nowhere to be found, and anarchy rules the streets.
The future of the Union and of the surviving World relies on this ANGEL, and it is unknown whether they will rise to the Need of The People and establish Peace for all for all time.
This is my first work and the first Act of THE UNION SPLIT series. Criticism welcome.

A Helping Hand
The leaves waving in the wind, birds singing their beautiful songs, the distant sound of water running through the forest. Living in a dense forest has been Jason's dream place to live since he was little. Although he lived on a farm in Nebraska. He enjoyed the outdoors, the only form of nature he got when living in Nebraska was when he visited the small forests near the Platte River and frequent visits to the Nebraska National Forests near the border of South Dakota. Jason has decided to move to the Chugach Forest within the state of Alaska. Jason has been living there for 2 years. Living deep in the forest but not too far from civilization, he has a good amount of privacy. One day, he decides to go out on a small camping trip to get some deer. On his trip, however, he runs into a pack of wolves, but not just any regular wolves, the group of them turned out to be anthropomorphic wolves, being able to shift into their anthro forms as well as their normal wolf forms. The wolves confront Jason and take him to their Alpha because he is living in their territory. Jason, not wanting to get on the wrong side of the pack, give the deer to them as a peace offering. The Alpha, considerate of Jason's kindness, offers a deal with him. Jason can stay in their territory but in return, he must help in their hunts. Follow Jason on his journey with these anthro wolves as he makes connections with the entire pack and becomes great friends with the Alpha. The year is 1964, but the surface has not felt human footsteps for nearly half a century. The Great Retreat of 1919 forced the remnants of civilization underground after World War I spiraled out of control. The war did not end-it merely burrowed deeper. Poisoned by mustard gas storms, chemical fires, and plagues, the surface is a wasteland of twisted metal and abandoned battlefields. Cities stand as hollowed ruins, their streets buried under layers of ash and dust. The sun is a faded memory, its warmth replaced by the choking heat of oil-fed infernos. Humanity crawled underground, carving vast tunnel networks and cavern-cities in the bones of the earth. Here, in the damp dark, people breathe recycled air, eat fungus grown from the dead, and drink from seeping cracks in ancient stone. The tunnels are endless, a maze of bunkers, collapsed mines, and fortresses built into the rock. The deeper one goes, the easier it is to forget the surface ever existed. War never ended-it just changed battlefields. Two factions, trapped in their endless conflict, send wave after wave of soldiers to die in the tunnels. The Golden Empire A militaristic theocracy that foolishly believes that God has not yet mankind. Their soldiers march in formation, clad in gold-plated armor, chanting hymns as they die for a war they cannot win. The Royal Nation A fractured, industrial war machine, where duty replaces faith. They ration food, force conscription, and manufacture war endlessly. Their soldiers wear hate on their sleeves, marching toward death with polished bayonets. Neither side will surrender. Battles are won and lost over mere yards of dirt, trenches collapse under the weight of bodies, and chemical gas drifts through the underground like creeping death. The surface is dead. The underground is soon to follow.

The world has seen many technological advances since the end of the war between Ukraine and Russia, which was both a blessing and a curse. In 2072, a war breaks out between the modern sides of the Allies and the Axis. Americans, Germans and the British Colonies made up the Allies, while Russia, North Korea and China made up the main three of the Axis. The war was at its worst in 2077, when Y/N had just returned from a mission in Russia. He was sent home due to the alleged endangerment of his fellow soldiers; however, this granted him some immunity. His home was in a small town that was populated by no more than 30 people, and nearby was a cryogenics testing facility in the form of a vault. The company that owned it, Vault-Tec, was a government-funded organisation that worked to find ways to preserve human life in the case of global disaster: environmental, nuclear, or otherwise. Due to Y/N's service history, he was allowed into the vault during the nuclear warhead exchange between America and China, and that's where our story starts. You died. I mean, it happened quite a bit during your lifetime. It wasn't anything different. However, instead of you waking up in the barracks again, you found yourself in a very odd place. A place where skin and fur were the same thing. "I hope I don't die too many times here."
