When your best friend is removed from your life, it hurts. Leana allowed herself no sadness about the matter: after all, it was her fault. She had helped a traitor to her country, to her king, escape. This same traitor had killed her best friend. It mattered little that she admired this person, or that Leana had been only a child at the time. Leana had hurt those who were closest to her profoundly: what right had she to mourn? As she grew up, Leana knew that the only way to make up for her actions was to serve her country-and punish the one who had done the killing if she ever got the chance.
