Rayne Noelle Sterling, a 24 year old famous author, has taken a break from her busy and chaotic life and has resided at her old family lake house in Brookside, hoping to find inspiration for her new book amidst the serenity of the quiet, small town. There, she reminisces about her late grandmother, Marjorie Finlay, a beloved and renowned author with whom she shared a special bond; going through the journey of the past and resurfacing memories filled with joy and laughter, as well as guilt and regret. Rayne's stay in Brookside becomes an unexpected journey when she discovers a box of Marjorie's old belongings in her best friend Violet Rosewood's family antique shop. As Rayne delves into her grandmother's keepsakes, she stumbles upon mysterious notes. Uncovering each clue, she is taken on a hunt around Brookside finding new riddles, and sometimes vague notes, each one helping her put together the pieces of this puzzle. As she puts together more and more pieces, she starts to believe that Marjorie's death might not have been what it seemed. Getting more and more leads, with the help of her friends, Rayne travels between past and present to uncover the truth, finding love and unraveling family secrets along the way.
Mallory never expected her summer to turn into a full-blown mystery. One moment, she and her best friend Max were climbing trees and dodging homework, and the next-they were unraveling a secret hidden in her own home. It all starts with a strange noise in the middle of the night, an object that vanishes without a trace, and a path that leads to nowhere.
Then, there's Elliot-the new guy with a past he won't talk about. He's quiet, a little too mysterious, and just when Mallory starts trusting him, the clues point right to his doorstep. Can she believe him, or is he leading her straight into danger?
As Max and Mallory dig deeper, they uncover a secret room, a locked safe, and a blueprint that suggests someone has been planning something big-something that could ruin lives. But before they can put all the pieces together, the door slams shut behind them.
Trapped. In the dark. And they aren't alone.
Someone has been watching them. Someone who knows exactly what they've found. And they're willing to do anything to keep the truth buried.
Time is running out. The thief isn't just invisible-they're always one step ahead.
And if Mallory and Max don't figure it out soon...
They might be next.
