This book follows the story of a 17-year-old girl named Maya who doesn't have it easy in life. Due to her stepfather's abuse, she stops talking and loses all her friends. Her parents divorced and her father died shortly after. Mom then finds this boyfriend, travels somewhere and it's as if she disappeared. Her stepfather doesn't want to tell her where her mother went, so she finds out for herself.
