When the deadly virus unleashed a zombie apocalypse, Serena, a once carefree 16-year-old girl, found herself thrust into a world of chaos and fear. Separated from her family during a walk to her school, she was attacked by zombies, got separated from everyone and was forced to navigate the harsh realities of survival on her own.

Days turned into weeks, and Serena's resilience was put to the test as she scrounged for food and shelter, always vigilant against the ever-present threat of the undead. It was during one such desperate search for supplies that she stumbled upon a ragtag group of survivors, each one fighting tooth and nail to stay alive in this unforgiving new world.

United by their shared struggle, Serena joined forces with the group, finding solace and strength in their companionship. Together, they faced the horrors of the apocalypse head-on, forging bonds that ran deeper than blood. And amidst the chaos and despair, Serena found herself drawn to one of her fellow survivors, a boy whose courage and kindness lit a spark of hope within her heart.

As they fought side by side, overcoming countless obstacles and dangers, Serena and the boy grew closer, their connection blossoming into something more. In a world where tomorrow was never guaranteed, their love became a beacon of light in the darkness, a reminder that even amidst the ruins of civilization, humanity endured.

In a world, where showing emotion is a dangerous weakness, love becomes the only beacon of hope. No one noticed exactly when people began to fall victim to the broken life of monotony, but by the time humanity realized that witnessing strong emotion triggered violence in the infected, it was too late. Evelyn Li is not a fan of risk. Confined to the safety of an underground bunker for the past two years, when Evie stumbles upon a radio broadcast hosted by a mysterious boy with a sharp tongue and an impressive record collection, she's inspired to embark on a mission fuelled by the belief that her family might still be out there (and definitely not because she's desperate to finally meet the boy whose voice has been her sole companion since the darkness descended). Jonathan Johnson is not an optimist and definitely not a romantic. He wasn't at all surprised when the world ended or even when the Soulless took over the streets. With the weight of rising tensions in the colonies, an absentee father, and heart-breaking tragedy resting on his shoulders, Jonathan would much rather escape into his record collection and secret radio broadcast than deal with the general bleakness of life in the apocalypse. As he is reluctantly roped into Evie's search for links to her past, Jonathan begins to wonder if he can ever truly escape his. Together, the unlikely pair must navigate the treacherous landscapes of both the unforgiving world around them and the complicated emotions within. Will their connection withstand the trials of a world consumed by darkness, or will it become just another casualty of the apocalypse?

Prologue: The sky had always been a canvas of infinite shades; serene blues, fiery oranges, and dusky purples that whispered the passing of time. But tonight, it was an unforgiving black, thick and suffocating, as if the stars themselves had fled in terror. The wind, once a gentle lullaby, now carried with it the stench of decay, a bitter harbinger of the nightmare that had begun to unfold. It started as a whisper in the farthest corners of the earth, a murmur of sickness that no one paid much mind. A fever here, a violent cough there-symptoms too common to cause alarm. The news reports were fleeting, overshadowed by politics and celebrity scandals. But as the days turned into weeks, the whisper grew louder, more insistent. Hospitals overflowed, bodies piled up, and the once indifferent world began to notice. By then, it was too late. The first to rise were the ones who had died in fear, their final moments spent in frantic horror. The infection moved like wildfire, an unseen hand turning the once living into twisted mockeries of life. These creatures, driven by an insatiable hunger, spread chaos across the globe. Cities burned, governments crumbled, and humanity was brought to its knees. In the midst of this chaos, there were those who fought to survive, clinging to the remnants of a world that was slipping through their fingers. They would become the last hope, the final line between the living and the dead. But even they knew, deep down, that hope was a fragile thing. For the dead were rising, and the world as they knew it was over.
