I chuckled nervously, realizing I had indeed omitted that detail. "Fine, so when am I going to see you?" I asked, pushing aside my doubts and hoping for a different answer this time.

There was a pause on the other end of the line before Bobby replied, his tone serious. "I can't promise you that, sweetheart."

His response stung, and I couldn't help but feel a pang of hurt. "You don't trust me, do you?" I asked, my voice tinged with disappointment.

But there was no reply. "Hello?" I prompted, hoping for some reassurance.
