Lyra's small hand was pressed against the Glaztek on her side of the border. Erebus put his hand over it. Purple and red glowed, emitting a pinkish light. Erebus shuddered at the red, a ghostly reminder of blood and fire. And then came Ambrose's whisper, the whisper that ruined it all.
"Break."

"Levy," Erza asks, "Do you still happen to have that book?" Levy stills for a moment, thinking. "Actually, I might!" She moves the giant book from her lap-not without some struggle- and jumps up from her previous seat on the couch next to Juvia. The other girls waited excitedly, chattering about random happenings around town. The sudden rise in visiting relatives, for instance. It seems that the sudden increase in jobs is a direct result of this strange occasion. "Lu, Juvia, Erza come quick!" Levy shouted urgently. The useless chatter instantly ceased as all three girls rushed in the direction the petite bookworm went, the attic. "Levy?! What is it?! What's wrong?!" Erza beat the other two into the musty room and instantly a very audible gasp came from her tall frame. After a great deal of struggle Juvia and Lucy managed to push the redhead aside so they could squeeze into the room. When they finally made it neither of them could believe their eyes. The whole dusty attic was bathed in a bright, magical light. It seemed to swallow everything whole as the girls stood there in shock. Erza was the first to snap out of her shock. "Levy, what is going on? What is causing this?" "It's the book, Erza, the book of fairytales! Something's wrong! They're missing-" Levy tried to warn them but the book started producing winds near the speed of a hurricane, drowning out her words. Papers and random clutter flew around the room in a whirlwind of debris. "Levy! Girls, we have to get out of here, fast!" Erza shouted over the wind. Armine stood before the tall, tarnished mirror, her reflection cold and mocking. The ornate frame, once gold, had dulled over time, its roses twisted like thorns. The room around her, grand with silken curtains and gold-trimmed furniture, felt suffocating. The air was thick, heavy with regret. She stared into the glass, not seeing a princess, but a shadow of herself-broken and lost. "Will there ever be a day," she whispered, her voice trembling, "when I stop hearing you laugh at me? When I stop hearing that I was never meant for the crown?" The reflection seemed to smirk, its cruel laughter echoing in the silence. "You were never meant to wear the crown. Thorns are meant for you, to choke you. You will never be his." The words hit like daggers. She wanted to look away, but the mirror held her in its grip. She felt suffocated by her own thoughts, by the weight of the crown she never wore, the love she never had. "Madam..." Alicia's voice broke through the silence. "You are so much more than this. Your worth is not in a crown or his love." Armine shook her head, her hollow smile barely visible. "He will come back, Alicia. But not to save me. He will come back to remind me of the game I've lost. I am nothing but a fool in this cruel story." She turned away from the mirror, but the laughter followed her, filling her ears. "Life isn't beautiful for everyone," she whispered. "It's for those whose fates are touched by angels. Mine... was touched by the dead." Alicia reached out, but Armine stepped back. The mirror's cruel truth echoed in her mind-she was never meant to be the princess, never meant to be his.
Marriage first, then love
He did not love her. It was a loveless marriage to him. In his eyes, she is just a burden who cooks food for him. And in return, he will earn money and place it in her bank account. But she fell for him the moment she had laid eyes on him. It was love at first sight. She would lovingly cook him breakfast, but he would not even glance at her in the morning. In attempts to get him to glance at her, she fooled and embarrassed herself in front of him. She was close to giving up. A small part of her had hoped someday he would change the way he views her. But the fragment of hope diminishes very quickly. Little did she know that one simple action will cause everything to change.
