He had pushed away everyone, but Shoto refused to leave his side for good. And when Izuku is able to escape the abusive relationship he was trapped in, Shoto is there to help him pick up the pieces. It wouldn't be easy. Izuku had changed so much and Shoto was scared that he would be lost in the dark forever.
