For over a hundred years the Galadric Realm knew relative peace and prospered. Alliances were made with foreign kingdoms, trade made the country rich, and the people rejoiced in their kings. That time has passed. Drought has stricken the country, the crown is in debt, and threat of invasion and rebellion looms over all. In the capital, a young prince must follow in the footsteps of his incompetent uncle and unprepared father. On the frontier, tensions have grown with the native Kusarkan elves. Young men who know not about war are singing songs about glorious battle as they march, and all the while corruption and darkness sweeps the hearts of those meant to rule. One can only trust in themselves and the ones they love if they wish to survive.
